A bridge is a fixed restoration that replaces one or more teeth. It gets inserted where the missing tooth/teeth are supposed to be and is anchored by the teeth that are healthy on both sides of the open space.
Bridges can be made from three types of material, solid gold for reliable long wear, porcelain fused to a gold base for strength and beauty, and high-strength metal-free porcelain for optimum cosmetic results. With proper care, your new bridge will increase your overall health and instill confidence for years to come.
The bridge is custom made to fill in the space with a false tooth.
The false tooth is then attached by the bridge to the two other teeth on each side of the space.
First, we prepare the teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth by removing their outer portion so the bridge will fit.
Then an impression is made to provide an exact model for the bridge. A temporary bridge is placed in the area to protect teeth and gums while the permanent bridge is being made.
At the second visit when the permanent bridge is ready, we insert it, after you are satisfied with the fit and the aesthetic, we will cement it to your teeth.
A fixed bridge is the most viable treatment option, especially when an implant is questionable, and you don’t want to wear a removable prosthesis. However, if you choose a bridge in this case, it will be necessary to crown both teeth on each side of the missing tooth.
At EYS we will make the most comfortable bridge for you.
