Emergency Dentist in Tribeca

Tooth pain, a broken tooth or a lost crown? Call (212) 274-8338 and we’ll make every effort to see you the same day.

Dental emergencies rarely wait for a good moment. When you call during office hours, we listen, tell you what to do right away and find you the earliest time we can.

We see severe toothaches, chipped or broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, lost crowns or fillings, and swelling. If you are in pain, call us rather than sending an online request.

What to do right now

Knocked-out tooth: Pick it up by the crown, not the root. Rinse gently without scrubbing. If you can, place it back in the socket and bite on gauze. If not, keep it in milk or inside your cheek. Call us right away, because the first hour matters most.

Broken or chipped tooth: Rinse with warm water and save any pieces. Hold a cold compress on your cheek to ease swelling. Avoid chewing on that side until we see you.

Lost crown or filling: Keep the crown safe and bring it with you. Dental cement from a pharmacy can hold it in place for a short time. Do not use household glue.

Swelling or a painful abscess: Rinse with warm salt water and call us. Do not put heat on the swelling. If your face is swollen and you have a fever, or you have trouble breathing or swallowing, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

We are closed on weekends and after hours. If you need urgent help when the office is closed, or have a serious injury to the face or head, go to the nearest emergency room.

What counts as a dental emergency?

Severe or lasting tooth pain, a knocked-out or loose tooth, a broken tooth, a lost crown or filling, and swelling in your gums or face all deserve a call. If you aren’t sure, call and we’ll help you decide.

Can I get a same-day dental appointment in Tribeca?

Call (212) 274-8338 during office hours. We make every effort to see dental emergencies the same day.

Should I go to the ER for tooth pain?

For most tooth pain, a dentist is the right place to start. Go to the emergency room or call 911 if you have facial swelling with fever, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a serious injury to the face or head.

How do I save a knocked-out tooth?

Hold it by the crown, rinse it gently and try to place it back in the socket. If you can’t, keep it in milk and call us right away. A tooth has the best chance when it is seen within an hour.

What can I take for a toothache until my visit?

Over-the-counter pain relievers taken as directed on the label can help, if they are safe for you. Do not place aspirin against your gum, as it can burn the tissue. A cold compress on the cheek may also ease swelling.
