Sedation & Comfort Dentistry in Tribeca
If the dentist makes you nervous, we go at your pace and offer gentle ways to help you relax.
Sedation dentistry uses medication to help you feel calm during treatment. In our office that means nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or an oral sedative taken before your visit. Dental anxiety is common, and it keeps many people from care they need. We never judge how long you’ve been away.
Comfort starts with time and clear explanations. For extra help, we offer nitrous oxide, a mild gas that wears off quickly, and oral sedation, a prescribed pill that leaves you deeply relaxed but awake. We choose together based on your health and the treatment.

What to expect
- 01
Tell us what worries you
We start with a conversation about your fears, your health and your medications. Nothing happens until you are ready.
- 02
Choose your level of comfort
We may suggest simple steps like music and breaks, nitrous oxide, or oral sedation, depending on your needs.
- 03
Prepare for the day
With oral sedation, we give you clear instructions in advance. You’ll need a trusted adult to bring you and take you home.
- 04
Treatment at your pace
We explain each step as we go. Raise your hand at any time and we’ll stop.
- 05
Recover and follow up
Nitrous oxide wears off within minutes. After oral sedation, plan to rest for the rest of the day. We check in afterward.

Questions, answered
Something else on your mind? Call us at (212) 274-8338.
Will I be asleep during sedation dentistry?
No. Nitrous oxide and oral sedation keep you awake and able to respond. You feel calm and relaxed, and many people remember little of the visit afterward.
What is the difference between nitrous oxide and oral sedation?
Nitrous oxide is a gas you breathe through a small nose mask. It works quickly and wears off within minutes. Oral sedation is a prescribed pill taken before your visit. It gives deeper relaxation and lasts for several hours.
Can I drive after sedation?
After nitrous oxide, most people can drive once it has worn off. After oral sedation, you must not drive or travel alone. Please arrange for a trusted adult to take you home.
Is sedation dentistry safe?
For most healthy adults, these options are generally safe when used after a full medical review. Tell us about every medication, supplement and health condition. Some conditions and medications mean a different approach is safer.
I haven’t been to the dentist in years. Where do I start?
Start with a call. We can talk through your worries before you come in, then plan a first visit at a pace that suits you. There is no lecture and no judgment.
